Scholarship

The Town of Roxbury is proud to announce the establishment of the “Renewable Award” -- a newly formed education grant recognizing residents of the Town who are graduating high school seniors and have demonstrated excellence and commitment to their Town. The Renewable Award will recognize students who have exhibited exemplary academic achievement, demonstrated effort to advance the cause of sustainability in the Town of Roxbury, and creativity and leadership to peers and their community. This award is initially funded through a generous $100,000 gift from the developers of the RoxWind Project, Palmer Capital Corporation and Horseshoe Valley Wind. The funds will be deposited into a Town account with the goal that the annual earnings on the account will result in 1-2 cash awards per year.  Nominations will be accepted annually and the Town will select one or more recipients each spring.

“As Roxbury is a place that embraces renewable resources, we are excited to be involved in the process of encouraging the youth of our community to continue their education and to possibly explore one of the many areas in the renewable resources career field,” reads a statement from the Town’s Select Board.  “The Town of Roxbury is grateful to all of those that have come together to initially start the scholarship fund and we look forward to seeing it grow and fund continued education for many years to come.  And we encourage all Roxbury (RSU10) high school graduating classes to further their education and apply for this scholarship.”

“Our team is pleased to partner with the Town on the Renewable Award,” said Lindsay Deane-Mayer, Senior Vice President at Palmer Capital and project manager for the development team. “We Strongly believe that today’s graduates are tomorrow’s problem solvers.  We hope that this award will support students of Roxbury for many years to come as they continue their educations and become the next generation of leaders.”

“We are grateful to the Town and its many citizens who came forward during the development period to offer their support, guidance and voice,” said Bob Patton, a partner with Horseshoe Valley Wind.  “Without their efforts, this project would not have been successful. The Renewable Award is being given by the development team to show our appreciation of all they contributed to help bring this project to life”
